Managed Alcohol Program
This pilot project reduces supervised housing obstacles and the acute, chronic, and social harms of severe alcohol addiction. This program provides an option of services-housing with a Managed Alcohol Program for eight homeless Indigenous men with severe alcohol addiction.
Program objectives for residents are:
- Offer a space that promotes stability and better quality of life.
- Improve access to primary health services.
Surround participants with significant community support.- Connect or reconnect participants to their Indigenous cultures.
The house is situated in downtown Montreal, with eight furnished, private rooms, three washrooms, a shared kitchen, a patio, and a game room.
Program advantages include:
- A private room that participants can lock if they choose.
- Reduction in hospital visits.
- Increased socialization with roommates who live in the house.
- Stabilization of alcohol consumption.
- Staff on-site 24/7 can provide urgent care.
- A shared home where it is possible to (re)connect with our Indigenous roots.
